Jesus on “Scandal”

What does Jesus mean by "scandal"? While modern culture thinks of scandal as public shame and disgrace, Jesus uses the concept to describe something far more serious: a stumbling block that ensnares people and damages their relationship with God. By examining the Greek word **σκανδαλίζω (skandalizō)** in Luke 17, Matthew 5, and Matthew 18, this article explores Jesus' teaching on personal holiness, responsibility, temptation, and the serious responsibility Christians have not only to avoid sin themselves but also to avoid becoming stumbling blocks to others.
